J is for Jerboa

This interesting animal looks like a mouse and jumps like a kangaroo. They can jump high and far and move rather erratically, which aids them when trying to escape a predator.

They are very small animals being about the size of a human fist. Hot deserts are where you will probably find them in Northern Africa, Asia, China and Manchuria.

Jerboas have great hearing skills, can move quickly and hardly ever drink water.

According to National Geographic, these animals were used as the British mascot in WWII for the brigade known as The Desert Rats.

This is Day 10 in the A to Z Blogging Challenge.
